I understand 3 dollars is too much for you because you have that disease where you have to post about everything no matter how ill informed you are on a topic (in this case completely since you are bashing a show you have never been too). I hope you safe up to get the surgery you need and will gladly make a contribution to your funds.
Everyone else, if interested in another performance oppurtunity you are welcome to come out to No Shame every first Friday at Salvage Vanguard at 10pm. Rest assured the 3 dollar price has kept away people like Luke. We all Win!
1.What does $3 have to do with a posting disease?
2. What is a "posting disease?"

If you're going to be a dick, at least be a dick who doesn't sound like a fucking idiot. Seriously. It takes an awful small person (Re:dick) to attack someones very minor grammar mistakes to drive a point home. A point that you know nothing about http://www.noshame.org/.
No Shame also takes place all over the country, and in Canada (oddly, with no complaint whatsoever about the 3 bucks) with the same rules; It's called community theater. They make no money. The point is to rent the space and make art.
Then again, I'm sure you'll come back to this with some stupid remark. You should really consider expanding your 'humor' to where it belongs; a boys' high school gym class or prison. Or you could combine the two and just do Juvvie Hall.
1. The $3 is your co-pay. At least until we have a single-payer public option.
2. According to the New England Journal of Embarrassing Diseases and Small Engine Repair, under "Posting Disease" it says "see 'neurosyphilis'".
this not a pay to play scheme or anything like that, no one is making money off this. please know what you are talking about before you start posting. this is a show put on by performers for performers. we got to charge 3 bucks to pay for the space (occasionally that doesnt even pay for the space and gnap theater company takes the loss). im not fronting the money to rent the space and neither are you, so stop being so judgmental. Every stand up who has come to this show has loved it and its a great place to try out material. So why dont people stop bashing people who have found a way to consistently put on a show that is rewarding and that performers enjoy (its been going on for eight years maybe more, it used to be at the hideout). It's fine if you dont want to come, i'm simply spreading the word of another place to perform.
MR Lendo,
IF THIS IS NOT A PAY TO PLAY SCHEME THEN FINISH THIS SENTENCE:
" If you want to play here you must ________ the 3 dollar performer fee"
" $3 at the door = __ minutes on stage!!!"
WOW you feel so strongly about this open mic.. I almost cried for you while reading it!
Then I thought "DID HE JUST GRIPE ME OUT?"- For a second there I thought you were my girlfriend..
Now thats disturbing!!!
Here are a few things to take note of..
1. Performers FOR Performers?-- If you are looking for an open mic that has performers watching and performers performing.. go to ANY OPEN MIC!---ANYWHERE!!---EVER!!!
2. its ONLY 3 bucks..... Thats right! But if I go throwing $3 around at every theatre that offers an open mic (like I have $3 to BLOW) Id go broke the first time I did it (do the math)...
BUY BEER PEOPLE---NOT STAGE TIME !!
3. WHy dont People stop Bashing People?--- Because People are People and thats what people do to people when people get upset with people...
Besides- Have YOu EVER read this ForUm?
- 1 MAN for FREE OPEN MICS
$3 is nothing. Jeez, people will complain about anything.
If $3 once a month is all that stands between you and financial ruin, maybe you should cut back on your beer budget just a tad. Suggesting this is probably in vain, since I think the Scots invented haggis to cut back on their food budget so they could have more drinking money. It's that sort of ingenuity, determination and resourcefulness that has given Scotland such immeasurable importance in global politics and commerce that no one has ever bothered to measure it.
Luke,
Cut the shit. Seriously.
Martha
P.S. If you continue to pick on Lendo you will find a whole host of people who will punch your Scottish balls off. That's not a threat, it's just what people do to people when people get upset with people.
Sorry about the ball-punching comment earlier -- that was inappropriate. Just cut the shit, will you? (Talking to myself now.)
Martha
What just happened?

I second everything Lendo said except "please know what you are talking about before you start posting." If I abide by that I'll never get to post again.

I can't think of a better name for a show that charges the entertainers to be there.
Isn't that a video game system?
But, seriously, in some other cities, other comedy scenes, it's not unheard of for clubs to require performers to either bring a set amount of friends that pay cover and buy drinks or pay a set fee (like $25) or else they don't get to perform on an open mic.
So, if someone wants to perform and $3 is too steep for them, I'm sorry for their insolvency. But since No Shame only occurs once a month, maybe cutting back on the purchase of one adult beverage every 30 days might be a solution.
In either case, I blame Bush for our economic collapse and the widespread insolvency and insufficiency of funds. And by Bush I mean Gavin Rossdale's old band, not W.
Why? I like to play the "wild card."
Am I the only one who thinks that charging the comics is a GREAT IDEA?
Audience pays 3 to see the show
Entertainers pay 3 to perform?
AWESOME!
Pay 2 Play~~ Can anyone purchase more than 1 spot?
