Write, write, write
Young comics are always asking me what steps they need to take to become a good comics. I always tell them to write, write, write, write, write. I find having a comfortable place you love going to helps get the funny started. Here's a list of some of my favorite places in Austin to sit down with my trusty old notebook and pen.

The Stephen F Austin balcony - The balcony is a great place to go in the fall or spring for some outdoor writing. A great view of the city and a full bar at your service will get your comedy juices flowing. Plus, Lindsay Lohan has been sighted there. What a muse! It's no surprise my "Whats the deal with short sleeve sweaters?" joke was written here. |

Starbucks on 5th and Lamar - This place is really special. For just $3.99 you can get internet on your laptop so you can surf the web for new joke inspirations. Did I mention Adrian Brody was spotted there? Some of my more famous parody songs were written at this Starbucks (excluding "Schwarzenegger-Doodle-Dandy"). |

|
Cherrywood Coffee Shop - Out of the four coffee shops I visited tonight for research this was the only place with seats. This amazing article you are reading right now was written there, so you know it's a good place. Oh yeah, and they also support local comedy. |

The Library (the bar) - Here, you get all the benefits of being at a library with the added bonus of being surrounded by drunk college kids. Everyone knows the best audience to bounce ideas off of is drunk college kids. I've written many a stellar one liners at this fabulous place. Shout out to Preston, Willard, and Cassidy for all their help. |

Thundercloud Subs - Look no furthur then their memorable radio spots to know why this place is special. It's a writer's paradise. And boy, is that California Club tasty. What is that - avocado? Delicious. The likes of Lucas Molandes, Chris Keimling, and Jeremy Valdez are there (for real, one time we all went there). |

|
The Zilker Park Zephyr - Located in the beautiful Zilker Park, this little train can get you "on the right track" for some comedy writing. Don't let the dirty looks by strangers with kids disgusted by the fact you are childless on a miniature train stop you from getting some writing done. My McSweeney's piece "Gossip Girl's guide to Medieval TImes if Gossip Girl took place in the 80's" was written in just three train rides. |

Hat tip to the McSweeney's snark. Even though "hat tip" is very Believer.
Best Fresh yet
I think the Whip In is a good place to write jokes. http://www.whipin.com/
Who wrote this article? I don't see a byline?
PS(This comment in NOT meant for you Dr. Juan unless you ACTUALLY have an answer to the question which has not happened yet.)
